ECMUN: The Leaders of Change

Çağdaş Model UN has a long history spanning over 11 years, starting out as a JMUN club in 2015. We #LeadTheChange and revolutionize Model UN for MUNers around Türkiye.

The history of Çağdaş model United Nations

Çağdaş Model United Nations was established as Çağdaş JMUN in 2015. For over 3 years, secondary school students have gathered JMUN experiences and learned about diplomacy. But in 2018, experience was high, and anticipation even higher. The club established a programme to lead younger students in the prepatory or 5th grade to join JMUN, called the JMUN Fundamentals Club. Students were trained for a year about everything they needed to know, and when they graduated, they were guaranteed to participate in the prestigious JMUN club next year. Çağdaş JMUN joined an unprecedented 10 JMUN conferences in 2018 alone and was the highest experienced JMUN club in Eskişehir.

In 2019, Nehir Bilge Akyıldız was elected to lead the club. He continued his presidency for 3 years, ending when he graduated. He continued his education in Çağdaş College, and established the Çağdaş Model United Nations Club in the 2021-2022 school year. He still maintains his position as the club president, joined by Bora Ülgünalp in 2023 as part of the management team to lead the club together as co-presidents.

The Story of #LeadTheChange

LeadTheChange started out as just a slogan, in 2021, following the establishment of the Çağdaş Model UN Club. However, the club was very active in participation to MUNs both in Eskişehir, Türkiye and around the world. After realizing that the club was actively empowering its members into prestigious academic teams and organizations, we began converting our slogan into our initiative. LeadTheChange has now supported over 10 Model UN clubs, 25 conferences, 100 MUN committees and over 1,000 delegates.

However, it is not just high school MUNers that benefit from our initiative, as we help Junior Model UN as well! Student ambassadors of #LeadTheChange have given presentations about effective speech writing, position paper preparation, resolution paper writing, (J)MUN 101, body language and many more. With the help of our friends at Çağdaş Secondary School JMUN Club, we are able to continue this journey to empower young enthusiasts of diplomacy and equality. LeadTheChange for JMUN has attended prestigious conferences like MUNBU Junior, JMUNESCO, Hisar JMUN, Boğaziçi City MUN and dozens more.

Euroes’25: when çağdaşmun set a new standard

In 2025, Çağdaş College welcomed over 200 participants into a never before seen conference. EUROES’25 was a free conference with European Union accredited certification. Çağdaş Model UN, in partnership with the Eskişehir European Union Association, conducted a 2-day conference of a European Union Council and Parliament simulation, a first in Eskişehir, and the follower of EUROSiMA in Ankara. Before EUROES, conferences were yet to see such high quality materials and prestigious academic leaders. Delegates from around Türkiye came together to discuss the future of EU, not as countries, but as members of parliament. Eskişehir was introduced into the idea of delegates as MPs, political leaning, and what parties in the EU parliament support. EUROES’25 was met with congratulation and is regarded as a turning point for Eskişehir.

ECTRAIN’26: Çağdaş raises the bar once agaın

Eskişehir has had MUN conferences for over 10 years now, almost completely organized by students in high school clubs. Usually, clubs prepare one annual conference per year and join conferences as delegations. However, in 2026, Çağdaş Model UN has outdone itself once again, preparing a first and only training conference in Eskişehir. We were originally planning ECTRAIN’26 to be a 50-delegate Mock MUN with applicants limited only to students at our school. However, due to very high interest, we partnered with Haller Youth Center to organize a full training conference with over 200 applicants, over 4 times the planned amount. With ECTRAIN, Çağdaş not only raised new MUN enthusiasts, but also set a new precedent of organizing two different MUN conferences including a training conference within a single school year, which was previously never achieved by any MUN society in Eskişehir. And on top of that, ECTRAIN was completely free-of-charge with materials provided without cost to delegates covered by ESBAV, the non-profit foundation of our school.

ECMUN’26: Leaders ın dıplomacy

Çağdaş Model United Nations are now preparing a large-scale MUN conference with contingents for over 350 participants around Türkiye, one of the biggest numbers seen in Eskişehir as of yet. ECMUN’26 takes the theme of “Peace within Unity”, where delegates will discuss topics such as war, human rights, youth empowerment, women’s rights, social injustices, equality, international law and many more as countries, world leaders and diplomats. ECMUN is also a partier to the Green Initative with support from our school’s non-profit foundation ESBAV, with many projects concerning the environment and sustainability. We’re working hard once again as the executive team of ECMUN to set precendents that will be hard to top once you’ve been to our conference. With academic and organizational team members from prestigious universities and MUN societies such as Boğaziçi MUN, BAUMUN, MUNBU and many more. Our academic team has a shared MUN experience count of over 1,000 conferences, with our Secretaries-General accounting for more than 100 alone. We’re bringing the best of the best in Eskişehir’s and Türkiye’s history, so apply now and have the chance to participate in one of the biggest and most prestigious MUN events in Eskişehir and Türkiye.
